Dr. Melissa Wikoff presented an update from the 2013 Tinnitus Research Initiative Conference in Valencia, Spain at the Atlanta Tinnitus Support Group. Her lecture was titled "Advancements in Understanding Tinnitus as a Treatable Disease."
Audiologist Susie Fages and doctoral student Laura Davidson visited Dunwoody Pines retirement community to give a presentation on hearing loss and rehabilitation options. Members of the community attended to learn more about hearing healthcare, and what steps they can take to improve their communication abilities. On August 29, 2013, Ms. Fages and Ms. Davidson will return for the annual Dunwoody Pines Health Fair, where they will provide free hearing screenings. Atlanta hearing Associates held the grand opening of their new Clairmont/N.Druid Hills office on June 10, 2013. The open house was an opportunity for local residents to tour the new facility which is a state-of-the-art center for the evaluation and treatment of hearing loss and tinnitus In attendance were Atlanta Hearing Associates audiologists Drs. Joy Pritchett, Melissa Wikoff and Rita Chaiken as well as student Laura Davidson. Members of the Dekalb Chamber of Commerce and other local dignitaries participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Last week, Phonak, a world wide manufacturer of hearing devices, welcomed 143 AuD students from 31 universities to their US headquarters inWarrenville, Illinois for the 9th annual Phonak University.
During thetwo-day event, Atlanta Hearing Associates audiologist Dr. Rita R. Chaiken taught two 3-hour interactive cerumen management courses to 40 students.
