Hearing Tests
We offer hearing tests for individuals of all ages in Dunwoody, Decatur, Milledgeville, Lake Oconee, and Sandy Springs. A hearing test is the first step in determining whether a hearing loss is present or not. During your hearing evaluation, we will have you sit in a soundproof booth with a pair of headphones on. We will play a series of sounds and tones at various frequencies to assess your ability to hear.
During your hearing exam will perform a series of tests, including:
- Audiometry
- Auditory Brainstem Response
- Otoacoustic Emissions Testing
- Speech Testing

Pediatric Hearing Tests
We offer pediatric hearing tests for children at our Milledgeville office. Hearing loss in children is incredibly common. It’s important to identify the signs early to prevent any disturbance in cognitive or speech development. Our audiologists have experience helping children with hearing loss and can create a custom treatment plan to encourage your child’s development.
We offer the following hearing tests for pediatrics at our Milledgeville office:
- Behavioral Observation Audiometry (BOA)
- Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA)
- Conditioned Oriented Response (COR)
- Traditional Audiometric Testing
- Speech Audiometry

Hearing Aid Fittings
After you’ve had your hearing tested, we will custom fit and program your hearing aids to your unique needs. Hearing aids should sit securely in or on your ear and should not cause you any discomfort. Using real ear measurement, we will verify your hearing aids are providing you with optimal sound quality based off your hearing prescription.

Hearing Aid Repairs
If something isn’t working right with your hearing aids, bring them in and we can repair your devices and get them working like new again. If we are not able to repair them on site, we can send your hearing aids to the manufacturer for you.

Cochlear Implants
For severe hearing losses, sometimes hearing aids aren’t enough. In these cases, a cochlear implant may be a better option. Cochlear implants are surgically implanted and provide better sound perception for those with severe losses.
At Atlanta Hearing Associates, we work with two surgeons in the area who can perform the surgery for your cochlear implant. After you have surgically received your cochlear implant, we can provide activation and programming to ensure your device is providing you with the right amount of amplification and you can understand the sounds you are hearing. This process may take several weeks as you adjust to hearing again.

Earwax Removal
Earwax is a natural part of the hearing system and a sign of healthy ears. However, sometimes earwax can become impacted inside the ear canal, causing discomfort, muffled hearing, and clogged ears. At our hearing center we can safely and effectively remove earwax in our offices. If your ears are bothering you due to excessive earwax, contact us for an appointment.

Hearing Protection
Loud noise exposure is one of the most common causes of hearing loss in people of all ages. Any time you are around sounds that exceed 85 decibels (the average sound level of city traffic) you should wear hearing protection. Consistent exposure to loud sounds can damage your hearing over time. Sounds over 100 decibels can harm your hearing after a single exposure.
We carry custom fit hearing protection such as earplugs, earmolds, and in-ear monitors at our hearing clinic. Whether you are a musician, enjoy listening to live music, partake in motorsports, or you work with power tools, it’s important to wear the proper hearing protection to keep your ears safe.

Balance Testing
Dizziness, balance disorders, and unsteadiness are some of the most prevalent complaints among adults. At Atlanta Hearing Associates, we offer diagnostic vestibular testing at our Sandy Springs office to determine if a balance disorder is present due to vestibular pathology. We offer the following tests for balance issues:
- Videonystagmography Testing (VNG): Assists our specialists in determining if the patient’s dizziness is caused by inner ear dysfunction, BPPV, or central pathology.
- Epley Maneuver: Is a series of head movements used to treat benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). Your provider will move your head and body in a series of ways to help alleviate symptoms of BPPV.

Tinnitus Management
Tinnitus, also known as “ringing in the ears,” is a prevalent symptom that affects millions of Americans. Tinnitus affects everyone differently and most people report the symptoms as hearing a buzzing, humming, ringing, or whistling sound in the head or ears.
If you struggle with persistent tinnitus, contact us for a hearing exam. We can perform a tinnitus test to determine what kind of tinnitus you have and how it can be best helped. We offer tinnitus treatment options such as hearing aids with a masking feature. These devices will play soothing sounds in your ears to help distract your brain from your symptoms of tinnitus.
